The Virtually Impossible: A Sub Two Hour Marathon

Running a marathon in under two hours is a seemingly impossible feat. The current world record is set at 2:02:57.  A few months ago, Nike, and some of the best marathon runners in the world, aimed to set a new standard of what is physically possible for the human body.

To accomplish a sub two hour marathon, a runner would have to maintain a mile pace of 4:35, or a speed of 13.1 mph, over the course of 26.1 miles. Eliud Kipchoge, the fastest marathon runner currently in the world, is our best chance in achieving this daring milestone.
